A Letter from Gaza on Eid

Peace be upon you all. Be grateful for it because we do not have peace. What could be more disastrous than being bombed on the day of Eid. Yet we do not complain our grief and suffering except to Allah.

Long story short, Visit your family members because we do not have anyone left. Eat your special meals and share it to those who cannot enjoy because we only breathe dusty air. Share gifts and be generous because we do not have any shops to buy gifts and any loved one to share gifts. Wear your best clothes and dress those who cannot afford because our only option is white shroud. Be grateful for the Iftar and sehri with which you were blessed for an entire month because we were left with only grasses to fast on. Be grateful that you did not had to skip any fast due to lack of food for several days because are fasting without breaking it. Do not weaken yourself and leave the obligations which you've practiced for a month. Never ever miss any prayer after this Ramazan. Regularly visit your mosques because because we do not have any. Nevertheless we pray under rubbles.

I do not write this to lessen your happiness on Eid, but you see, there is nothing to celebrate Eid for us. In these challenging times, when our hearts are heavy with the weight of adversity, our Eid celebrations might seem subdued. However, amidst the trials, your unwavering support and efforts bring us solace and strength. Remember, oppression is fleeting, and Allah's divine plan is always at work. Let us remain hopeful and steadfast in our faith.

We firmly believe that there is no power and might except Allah, and nothing can annihilate us. We hold fast to the belief that true joy awaits us beyond this world, at the gates of Paradise. That will be our ultimate Eid.

Until then, with prayers for brighter days ahead, I bid you Assalamualaikum and Eid Mubarak.
