Infront of Sir Syed Ahmad's Grave
The calm and cool breeze touching my face awakened me to the realisation of death. Before me lay the mighty man, resting silently in his grave under the vast, black sky. His shijrah traces back to the Prophet’s beloved daughter, spanning thirty-eight generations. Beside him lies Sir Ross Masood—his grandson, his disciple, and a rightful inheritor of his Grandfather's vision.
He has been here for 127 years, and in his time, he created a place so profound that people wish to be buried in university graveyard after their wish of being buried in the Prophet's city or Makkah. A sinner for the clergy and the saint for the masses, he did ordinary things in the most extraordinary way. Following in his Grandfather’s footsteps, he transformed the Yathrib of ignorance into a Madinah of knowledge. His being was endowment for the community.
This is not a eulogy. It is a confession—a sincere, honest reflection in front of his grave.
Anyone who visits this very spot where I sit will bear witness to the grandeur of his vision and the legacy of his work.
What else would a man want to achieve other than this? What greater achievement could there be than to be buried within the premises of your life’s work?
The spirit of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan is summarised in Bukowski’s lines:
All the others are a test of your endurance,

The spirit of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan is summarised in Bukowski’s lines:
All the others are a test of your endurance,
of how much you really want to do it.
And, you’ll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds.
And it will be better than anything else you can imagine.
If you’re going to try, go all the way.
There is no other feeling like that.
You will be alone with the gods,
And, you’ll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds.
And it will be better than anything else you can imagine.
If you’re going to try, go all the way.
There is no other feeling like that.
You will be alone with the gods,
and the nights will flame with fire.
DO IT. DO IT. DO IT. All the way
You will ride life straight to perfect laughter.
It’s the only good fight there is.
